Platform4 is creative hub for art and technology, which since 2008 has been the frame for hundreds of events and projects, from building of robots and rockets, over workshops to art exhibitions, concerts and large-scale festivals. The whole project has been based on volunteer efforts, shared learning and an open source principle, where knowledge, insights and skills have been shared with peers as well as with the rest of the world. This is the essence that is captured in this book with articles, insights and lots of amazing photographs.
Right from the beginning Platform4 has been an incubator, in which you could try out ideas, create a network and collaborate with people from the international art and technology circuit. This is what the authors wanted to portray and share with the world, and this is why over the last two years they have been working on this book, which encapsulate all that they learned during the recent years. The goal of the book has been to inspire and translate all the knowledge that was generated, so that others can benefit from it - as well as so that those who were (and are) part of it can reminisce and think back on all the exciting and fun experiences they had being part of the Platform4 community.
The book contains articles about a series of the biggest and most groundbreaking projects that has taken place in ?Platform4 over the years, written by both local project creators - but also some of the international stars, who came to Aalborg and became very impressed by the culture and energy contained in Platform4. More over, the book has articles which zoom out and focus on some of the more general themes that was central in building and developing the space - among other radical knowledge sharing, bottom-up user involvement and the learnings of art and technology through play. It is garnered with beautiful graphic design and hundreds of stunning color photos which document what took place.
