4.75 Stars !!SPOILER!! Hi, I've been waiting for this book as if it were the thing that would keep me alive! And it did not disappoint. (Yes, I did cry after the first 60 pages.) I liked that the reader gets a chance to understand both why Kitt and Edric acted the way they did; it kind of makes the book make sense. I already guessed the plot from the first Edric chapter, with the description of his diseased wife, so that put me in a mental state of delusion—thinking that couldn't possibly be right—but it ended up being correct. In my opinion, Kai's character development went backwards. He just became this thing that was obsessed with Paedyn (that’s really all I have to say about that. I can see how some people liked it—I didn’t personally hate it, I just slightly disliked it). Paedyn really grows to become something I never would’ve guessed, but I’m happy it happened (thank you, Lauren). The references to the earlier books killed me. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. The wedding bouquet? Ugh. Just let me live for one second before ruining me even more. I’ve been waiting for Kitt to die since book one, so I was SO happy he finally died (I’m not mentally ill, I swear). The romance, though—I found it soooo hard to believe it was actually real. But then the wedding happened and I became convinced. And the ENDING. Can we just talk about that for a moment? Like, COME ON—it was perfect. The willow, the bouquet of forget-me-nots, poppies, and roses… everything was just gorgeous. AND THEY GOT A CHILD and named her after Kitt (which I believe was wrong—she should’ve been called Adena or Ava. I will die on that hill, btw).
